In collaboration with the CERN’s CineGlobe Film Festival and the Swiss Foundation for culture Pro Helvetia, the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) is launching the second edition of FUTURE STORYWORLDS, a workshop aimed at promoting visionary narrative universes on the themes of utopia and sustainable development, open to Swiss writers, artists, interface designers and narrative developers upon application. The candidates are invited to imagine utopian futuristic narratives that tackle one or more of the 17 sustainable development goals put forward by the United Nations to transform the world by 2030. The 6 to 10 selected projects will  participate at FUTURE STORYWORLDS at CERN  on 23 & 24 November 2018. FUTURE STORYWORLDS offers the possibility of taking part in a unique space of reflection and exchange on the premises of the CERN, the mythical scientific laboratory the purpose of which is the research on fundamental physics and the discovery of the fabric and laws of our Universe.

This year, FUTURE STORYWORLDS will focus on writing for immersive media (video games, augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality). Scientific experts and major players from the digital and narrative industries will come together to analyse the selected treatments. Personalized coaching sessions and master classes will allow participants to strengthen the scientific and narrative elements of their projects at the earliest stage of development. Decisive work on the quality of concepts and narrative architecture that the NIFFF and its partners wish to promote throughout Switzerland.
Following the workshop, the experts will help the development of one of the participating projects through a financial participation of CHF 3000.
