Every year in March, San Francisco becomes the epicenter of the game industry. SwissGames is proud to organize the presence of 19 Swiss game developers and technologies, which will be present at the main Game Developers Conference (GDC), the Matchmaking Event Game Connection America as well as the European Game Showcase. This Swiss presence in San Francisco is organised in collaboration with swissnex San Francisco.

The 2019 delegation has a majority of female developers or women-led studios and a full parity of studios coming from French and German-speaking regions of Switzerland, reflecting the diversity of this developing industry.

Full delegation:

The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is the world’s largest professional game industry event and brings together in San Francisco over 28,000 attendees to shape the future of the industry over five days. Attendees include programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, business decision-makers and others involved in the development of interactive games and immersive experiences.
GDC hosts the market-defining GDC Conference, featuring 750 lectures, panels, tutorials and roundtable discussions by leading industry experts. The GDC Expo showcases the latest game development tools and services from 550 leading technology companies such as Amazon, Google, Intel, Nvidia, Oculus, Sony, and Unreal Engine. Attendees can use GDC Connect business matchmaking and the MeetToMatch platform to set up meetings and explore new partnerships and business opportunities.

Game Connection America is the leading deal making event for the video games industry since 2001. Taking place in San Francisco and in Paris (Game Connection Europe), both events attract over 2700 attendees. Thanks to its online matchmaking system, participants can optimize their presence by targeting their interests and planning in advance their meetings. 9 studios from the SwissGames delegation will be taking part to GCA this year: 5 am Games, N-Dream, Nifty Productions, Stardust, Sycoforge, vrbn AG, Blindflug Studios, Cosmoscope and Moka Studio.

European Game Showcase is an event where European developers can meet press, publishers and strategic partners, taking place since 2017 during the strategic GDC week in San Francisco. It represents another opportunity for Swiss game developers to  showcase their work. 9 Swiss studios will be taking part to EGS this year: Indoor Astronaut, Charlotte Broccard, Stardust, Stray Fawn, Team KwaKwa, 5am Games, Lilou Studio, GBanga, Dissatisfied with Badgers.

Courage XL is taking place on Sunday 17 April, and offers the opportunity to the studios to showcase their games in a relaxed ambiance. Among the international selection of games present, 3 Swiss Studios were selected: Hidden Fields, Stray Fawn Studio and Cosmoscope.
