Black Spoon Studios take the classic «Snake» game to new heights. By adding the third dimension and a Mayan culture background to the mix, the Zurich-based studio created «Kukulcan», a game for mobile that challenges the player’s wit and creativity.

Programmer of Black Spoon Studio, Andres was always fascinated by Mayan culture, from the architecture of the temples to the complex and artful writing system.  His first project was creating a Maya-inspired font during his graphic design studies, then in 2018 he wanted to develop a game. Inspired by the mobile game classic «Snake», he came up the idea behind «Kukulcan» and reached out to his former colleagues from the Zurich University of the Art: Joëlle, a puzzle-enthusiast and Julia, a fan of myths. Since then, they have joined forces to develop the game, a mind-bending experience featuring 40 levels, set to be released next summer on Android and iOS.

Now, this unstoppable snake managed to meander its way to GDC with the SwissGames delegation.
